6. No Surrender Death is an easy escape in this horrid war But I am a man who will stand by the oath he swore Here, on this island of fear, I will hold my ground 'Til I prevail or the enemy shoots me down They told me to never surrender And duty must always come first But sometimes I can't help but wonder If my life has somehow been cursed Year after year, it goes on like an endless night I carry on to pursue what I know is right My enemies fall, one by one, in this foreign land But then, from above, comes a message from high command They say the war is all over I don't believe what I hear And though I may not grow much older My duty is ever so clear: On this island of fear, I shall remain And I will not yield to whatever comes my way It may be twenty-nine years before I'm home again But I will keep on fighting all the same I will never surrender I won't ever give up I am bound by my honour And I will never stop If I ever surrender It will all be for naught And I'll lose all my honour 'Cause of the shame I've brought
