Lyrics:

Sing me some songs, melody man
But don't make them sad
Sad songs will only remind me of him
Sing me some songs, melody man
Of happier times
Sing me some rhymes about sunnier days
Play your guitar, melody man
Play it heavy and fast
Don't make it whine and start bringing me down
I need some laughs, melody man
So sing me no blues
Haven't you heard I've got blues of my own?
Can't you see my eyes are kind of heavy with regret?
Trying to forget him isn't easy
It's not that I'm against the kind of music that you play
It's just that it can bring back yesterday
Hey, hey
Sing me some songs, melody man
And come drink my wine
Tell me a tale to make everything right
Sing me some songs, melody man
But don't make them slow
And if I know them I'll sing them with you
Play your guitar, melody man
Play it heavy and fast
Don't make it whine and start bringing me down
Sing me some songs, melody man
But don't make them slow
And if I know them I'll sing them with you
La-la-la-la, melody man
La-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, melody man
